Dentist Charged Over Using Paper Clips in Root Canals

Summary:

In this article writer David Knowles writes about how easy doctors manipulate people. 51 years old dentist Michael Clair is accused of bilking Medicare for false claim in Bristol County Massachusetts. Clair is accused of using paper clips during root canal and then billing Medicare for high costlier stainless steel post instead. Clair is also accused for submitting false Medicare claims by using other dentists’ provider number, illegally providing prescriptions drugs to employee like hydrocodon and combunox. Mass. Attorney general’s office said the between 2003-2005 Clair have illegally billed Medicare approximately $130,00.

Personal Response:

I chose this article because in you have to be really careful in today’s world. You go to doctor for one thing and they’ll find something else wrong with you just to get your money. And it’s just not doctor, but also if you take your car to mechanics, or it could be just shopping.

Good point there. People are so dishonest today that you have to be careful. You can hear some crazy stories. I know a woman who owns some rental houses and this other woman called her to see if she could do some cleaning at the ones that were empty. A couple of weeks went by and the home owner went by the house to see how good of a job the cleaning lady did, and she had moved in!

And since this is about Medicare or health care, THIS is the kind of thing that needed to be reformed, NOT making me pay money for something I don't want.

I knew there was a reason I didn't like going to the dentist. Kidding. Seriously a paperclip!? He could have caused a serious infection by using a paper clip that wasn't sterile.

This article is pretty scary. You never know what a doctor is doing to you while you are in their care. Likewise, you can never tell what a fast food worker is doing to your food behind the scenes. If the world was full of honest people, crazy paper clip using dentists wouldn't be concerned with milking insurance claims for a lousy $130,000. It's really sad when you think about it. Any of those people could have gotten a serious infection from having a paperclip used for a root canal. I guess the dentist cared more about padding his bank account than caring for his patients well being.
